Lake Anita State Park covers over 1000 acres, including a 171 acre lake perfect for fishing and boating, and a sand beach for swimming. A walking/bicycling trail around the lake provides views of restored prairie and a variety of trees and grasses as well as many species of animals and birds. Canada geese, ducks and trumpeter swans may be seen on the lake.
The Friends were instrumental in building the trail around the lake. They also have contributed playground equipment for children in the camping areas. In addition, the group sponsors free movies in the campground on Saturday nights from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
The Friends group is currently involved in a reforestation and conservation project in conjunction with the DNR that will result in the planting of 500 new trees and shrubs in the park.
